THE SHACK BAND
The Shack Band’s intent to wow new crowds with their off-the-cuff, high-energy live shows melding funky rock ‘n’ roll and soaring harmonies with a strong emphasis on song-writing.

Dead 27s
On their debut EP, Dead 27s brilliantly infused rock-and-roll and classic soul with both raw energy and refined musicality. Now with their first full-length effort Ghosts Are Calling Out, the Charleston-based band expands their sound by pursuing their passion for loose and joyful experimentation. Working with a treasure trove of obscure and vintage lo-fi gear, Dead 27s have widened their sonic repertoire to offer up an album that’s boldly inventive but rooted in pure emotion.

Culture feat. Kenyatta Hill

Culture Featuring Kenyatta Hill
Culture is reggae's preeminent harmony group. Born in the 70′s golden age of reggae, the ever viable Culture garnered continual US and international acclaim for its long series of classic "roots" albums.

Culture's level of energy and creativity are consistently superlative. They have performed brilliantly to spellbound audiences at countless festivals, concerts and clubs around the US and throughout the world.

Kenyatta Hill’s career began the day his father’s ended. Joseph Hill, singer and songwriter for the legendary Jamaican vocal trio Culture, collapsed and died while on a 2006 tour of Europe. To the amazement of promoters, fans and critics alike, Kenyatta stepped onstage and delivered electrifying performances time and again - nineteen shows in all - until the tour was complete. This was unheard of in any genre of music at any time. Kenyatta gave of himself so totally – as his father had for so many years – that the two seemed to become one, the eerily similar voices and the vibes igniting the critics and yielding a new reggae mantra “magic, not tragic!”

Bobby Thompson & Revelator Hill with Jon Spear Band

Bobby Thompson & Revelator Hill
Awe-inspiring master guitarist and vocalist Bobby Thompson is no stranger to the blues and rock world. He cut his teeth learning to play in the old blues clubs of D.C. from the likes of Bobby Parker. After honing his craft as a much sought after support man, Thompson decided to step out as a solo artist, releasing three albums since 2011. A recent review from Roots Music Report claims Thompson’s songs portray "muscular blues- and soul-rock strong on soulful vocals and cut-above-the-norm originals." With his smooth, gripping vocal stylings and his perfect musical taste on anything with a string, Thompson is what’s referred to as a “musician’s musician. Considered a “must see” act of the Northeast region, Bobby was nominated for the D.C area Musician of the Year award in 2015.

Jon Spear Band
Nominated by Blues Blast Magazine for the prestigious Best Live Blues Recording of 2016 award, the Jon Spear Band is a collaboration of some of Central Virginia's finest and most dedicated blues musicians. The release of their 2nd CD caps off a year of increasing success which saw the band receive extensive airplay, numerous favorable reviews, and opportunities to appear with several major artists, while their first CD “Old Soul” captured the #35 spot on the Roots Music Report's Top Contemporary Blues Album Chart for 2015. Although their ages span several generations, the band's members share a common determination to use their exceptional talents to create unique and memorable music. Members include Dara James (guitar, vocals and harmonica), Andy Burdetsky (bass), John Stubblefield (drums), and Jon Spear (guitar and vocals).

Cash Unchained: The Music of Johnny Cash

Cash Unchained: The Music of Johnny Cash
Johnny Cash was not the greatest singer or musical technician, but his sound was unforgettable. Steady like a train, sharp like a razor, with the perfect blend of country, rock ‘n’ roll, and folk music, Cash paved the way for artists of all genres for years to come. With no Johnny Cash, we don’t have the music we’ve all enjoyed over the past 6 decades.

Performed by some of the finest musicians in our region, James 3 captures Cash’s trademark baritone voice, while his band delivers the infectious, driving rhythm of the Tennessee Three. They will entertain you with Cash’s greatest hits including “Folsom Prison blues”, “Ring of Fire”, “Walk the Line”, and many more. You will also hear songs from the end of Cash’s career including his final
hit “Hurt” written by Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails).
